I’m G. Spencer Myers, creator of the Dr. Derk Bryan eco-thriller series, which blends environmental advocacy with crime mystery storytelling. This series varies from a genre that has traditionally featured some flawed investigator to one in which the hero is a college professor who sidelines as the Indiana Jones of the EPA. He also serves as our collective conscience in his obsessive effort to reduce his own carbon footprint. Some of my books include Climate Facts and What We Can Do About It captions throughout.
Earlier this year I released a book entitled WE ARE PLAYING ROULETTE WITH YOUR FUTURE that is a memoir and a warning to my grandson's generation that every decision he makes for the rest of his life will either add to the problem or become of the solution to the crisis of his lifetime: Global warming. It includes a sobering interview in which he discusses the complacence of his high school classmates.
His teachers are interested in introducing the subject to students but lack the training. Can you provide me with resources or class materials that have already been developed to address this subject.
Your podcast’s focus on sustainability and storytelling aligns perfectly with my mission to engage readers in environmental issues through suspenseful fiction. I’d love to join you for a conversation about how fiction can drive climate awareness, the role of satire in environmental storytelling, and unconventional ways to reach eco-conscious people.
If you’re open to it, I’d be thrilled to discuss how we could collaborate or schedule a guest spot.
You can find more about my work, my Solar Sojourn, read sample chapters and view video trailers at www.GSpencerMyers.com. FYI, I was the first person in the U.S. to place 400 sq. ft. of solar panels on a multi-family home included in the National Register of Historic Properties. These homes are located in areas requiring approval to paint the door. How I got approval to put this technology on a home built in 1840 is a story in itself.
Thanks so much for your time and for the work you’re doing to elevate environmental voices.
