From Climate Communications to Biomass Storage: MCJ Podcast Highlights
Pod recap, upcoming roadshow, and community highlights
🎙️ This week on the My Climate Journey podcast…
Cody sat down with Lori Lodes, Executive Director at Climate Power, a strategic communications operation focused on building political will and public support for bold climate action. Lori didn’t have a background in climate but her experience managing communications efforts at the highest levels of corporate and political initiatives proved to be a perfect fit for Climate Power’s mission. Hear her take below!
On Jason’s Capital Series, we learned from Hampus Jakobsson, a general partner at Pale blue dot. Hampus is a software engineer, turned founder, turned angel investor, turned VC. In this week’s episode, Hampus shared his journey building a climate investment firm, what the ‘Pale blue dot founder’ looks like, the firm's decision process on potential investments, its mix of LPs, geological footprint, and tons more.
We don't view climate change or climate tech as a sector. It's an aperture.
And finally, we cycled through the topic of BiCRS. No, not the people in black leather jackets cruising down the highway, but rather the acronym for the process of biomass carbon removal and storage, or BiCRS. Brad Hartwig, CEO and founder of Arbor, taught us about torrefaction, and how his company’s process converts the carbon in forest waste into stored CO2, while also producing clean energy and freshwater as byproducts. Brad also walked through his aerospace background and how it seemed particularly well suited for Arbor's specific approach.
