MilkRun is a weekly-subscription service for local produce, breads, meats, dairy, and eggs to be delivered directly from local farmers to your door. Currently, food travels an average of 1,500 miles before it gets to a grocery store in the U.S., and farmers only see 10% of every dollar. MilkRun's goal is to redistribute money to farmers and keep food local. They are making it easy for consumers to support their community farmers and provide a better and easier way to shop.

MilkRun CEO & Founder, Julia Niiro, walks me through her farming origins and how MilkRun got started. We talk about the problems of food waste and her future plans for MilkRun. We also discuss the quickly growing local food segment of the food industry and the gaps in the marketplace. Julia shares what drives her deep commitment to build a better future and how you can help make a difference.

MilkRun's delivery service is available in Seattle, Portland, & Austin. It’s coming soon to Dallas, Atlanta, Denver, Chicago, Detroit, and New York.

Enjoy the show!
