MCJ COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS
π Joy swept through the community at the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act, with members even gathering in person to celebrate.
ποΈ Yin floated the idea of giving a platform to the voices of skilled labor and folks on the frontlines of a green transition. It was so popular we started our Skilled Labor Series on the pod! Listen here.
πββοΈ βAsk Me Anythingβ events helped us break down knowledge siloes. Brilliant questions challenged conventional knowledge, and our guests gave their time to provide insightful answers. See more here.
π¨βπ» Our Software Engineers channel kicked off a healthy discussion about programming languages used in (and required for) jobs across climate.
π Resources were shared to help a college professor of philosophy support students keen to explore the climate tech space.
π‘ The community dug into home electrification and shared experiences, which led to discussions of how we can support the emergence of ideas and collective hive-mind solutions in the future.Β See more here and here.

We added a few new faces - Leone, Jenn, Nicole, and Yin - to the team and wanted to each share a personal highlight from the year.
Itβs been inspiring to meet hundreds of folks joining our community during our regular MCJ Welcome Calls. Every member is driven by purpose, with incredible goals and experiences, and most importantly the desire to connect and collaborate. On the calls, weβve had members share the joy of closing their latest round, engagement news, and even realise theyβre neighbors on the same street! Theyβre a representation of what makes this community special.
Seeing all of the MCJ events inspired me to organize a gathering in San Diego, which is normally out of my comfort zone. It turned out to be a blast, and Iβm grateful to be surrounded by such a welcoming and inspiring community.Β Β
Hosting the MCJ art workshops and talking with such a creative group of people from around the world. Seeing the different kinds of art they create in such a short period is an inspiration and I love that it sparks unique conversations about climate in a way that feels low-stress.Β
Spending time with several team members (Yin, Cody, & Jason) in San Francisco during the Climate Draft conference. It was delightfully surreal meeting in person β for the first time! β founders, LPs, investors, and others in the climate community after 2+ years of getting to know them via Zoom calls. People are a lot taller in person!
I loved getting the chance to host the monthly Women in Climate meetups. Stepping into an environment where we can simultaneously talk about learnings from COP27, share frustrations from job searches and fundraises, and celebrate wins, all the while supporting one another and trading bread recipes βwhat a joy to get the chance to share a room with so many amazing people month after month!
Iβve had a blast co-hosting the podcast and especially loved the opportunity to interview Jason on his climate journey.Β After listening to him host countless episodes, it was a bit surreal to be the one asking him questions. Iβve enjoyed the dozens of startup founders Iβve had a chance to interview since and learn so much from each interaction.
Iβve loved seeing how each function in our small (but mighty) firm has gotten stronger as weβve scaled the team. Itβs also been rewarding to see how weβve been able to foster such strong relationships and a special culture with a wholly distributed team. Only 9 people, but already 3 different time zones are represented across 3 different countries. Climate change is a global problem, and it feels incredibly fulfilling to be working to address it in such an inclusive and distributed way.Β
Getting to spend time in person with Jason, Thai and Nicole is definitely the highlight of my year, as was beginning my own deeper climate learning journey with Terra.do (which is high on my New Yearβs resolution list to complete in 2023!)
